Janssen in Ireland

"We also feel committed to the community in which we live and work, but also to all of humanity."

Excerpt from the 1943 Johnson & Johnson Credo

Janssen in Ireland

Janssen’s connection with Ireland stretches back to the early 1980s when our first manufacturing site was established here.

Throughout that period, we have grown significantly with a focus on addressing the most important unmet needs in disease areas where we believe we can make the greatest difference: oncology, neuroscience, immunology, infectious diseases and vaccines, cardiovascular and metabolism, and pulmonary hypertension.

Our footprint

Today, we have two manufacturing sites in Cork and a commercial operation in Dublin, which is responsible for ensuring patients in Ireland get access to our medicines.

Established in Little Island, Cork, in 1981, this Janssen site manufactures bulk active pharmaceutical ingredients that are exported around the world to be further processed into tablets, creams or injectable medicines.

Our state-of-the-art facility in Ringaskiddy, Cork, opened in 2005 to develop innovative treatments for cancer and biomedicines for immune-related diseases, such as inflammatory bowel disease and psoriasis.

The Ringaskiddy site holds status as a Global Centre of Excellence for Clinical Drug Substance and Drug Product Release and Stability Management.

It has been recognised for its manufacturing and operational excellence through receipt of ‘Industry 4.0 Light-house’ designation by the World Economic Forum.

Janssen was the first pharmaceutical manufacturing company to receive the ‘Business Working Responsibly Mark’ in recognition of our Supply Chain commitment and dedication to responsible and sustainable business practices.

Sustainability

Janssen’s manufacturing sites in Ireland are leading the way in reducing our impact on the environment.

Research & Development (R&D)

Janssen is committed to supporting Research & Development in Ireland.

Collaboration is key to our R&D efforts and this ethos extends to supporting patients and other stakeholders through education and awareness-raising initiatives. We also work closely with our local communities to educate and inspire about the promise of a career in science.
