Innovation & Digital Transformation

At Janssen, we recognise that how we approach health must adapt and evolve if we are to improve lives, protect health systems and realise our vision of making disease a thing of the past.

People worldwide are living longer, a trend which is set to continue, leading to increasing pressure on our healthcare system due to the associated increase in age-related illness.1

In the future, rather than intervening when a person is already sick, predicting, pre-empting and preventing illness will be the primary goal of health intervention. This is what we call the ‘wellcare era’ – and it is already being realised thanks to innovation happening today.

Innovation

As part of the Johnson & Johnson family of companies, we are one of the biggest R&D investors in the world among companies from all sectors.

We are pursuing breakthroughs in science and technology in our own laboratories and through our powerful network of external scientists, entrepreneurs and partners.

Digital transformation

We embrace the digital revolution in pursuit of better outcomes for patients and recognise the imperative role of digital in creating a sustainable healthcare future.

Collaboration is key to realising the promise of digital. We co-design our innovations with patients, citizens, healthcare professionals and policy makers to ensure what we build is user-friendly and fulfilling an unmet need.

Digital transformation has also enabled the collection and analysis of real-world evidence (RWE) about the usage and potential benefits or risks of a medical product or technology. At Janssen, we use RWE in a transparent way and in collaboration with the scientific research community to complement our clinical trial data.

The generation of RWE is also changing how emerging medical innovations can be assessed by regulators. Janssen is working to accelerate access to the most cutting-edge cancer therapies through the introduction of value-based healthcare models, which are made possible by RWE.
