Remo Colarusso is Vice President, Janssen Supply Chain. In this role, Remo is responsible for the global manufacturing and supply management of all biopharmaceutical brands. He will lead more than 10,000 associates working in 18 pharmaceutical, biologic, and chemical manufacturing sites globally.
Remo has more than 30 years of biotech and pharmaceutical supply chain experience in the areas of manufacturing, engineering, project management, strategy, and Lean/Six Sigma. He has been with Johnson & Johnson for 29 years and was most recently Vice President, Manufacturing and Technical Operations (MTO) in the Janssen Supply Chain (JSC), responsible for oversight of our “MAKE” processes, where he ensured the safety, quality and reliability of supply across the internal and external network and commercialized supply of the Janssen pipeline.
Prior to this role, Remo was Head of Pharmaceutical Development & Manufacturing Sciences (PDMS) in the Janssen R&D Operations organization where he led the PDMS team in delivering 14 new products through the development of their manufacturing processes and supply of clinical material. Through his visionary leadership and contributions on Project JEDI, the PDMS team created significant savings and efficiencies for Janssen R&D through the implementation of Lean principles, continuous improvement on processes to eliminate waste, and more efficient workflow to systemically capture and reuse knowledge. Remo was also the sponsor for the Janssen R&D Diversity & Inclusion Council.
Prior to serving as the Head of PDMS, Remo was Vice-President, Product Management for the Janssen Supply Chain, where he was responsible for planning, new product introduction and the lifecycle management of established products in the Janssen portfolio. As part of those responsibilities, he also contributed on Project Rubik, resulting in the establishment of the Johnson & Johnson enterprise supply chain. Before joining Johnson & Johnson, Remo held roles in engineering at JM Huber Corporation and in process development at the ColgatePalmolive Company.
Remo holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering and an MBA in Operations Research, both from Rutgers University. He is an active member in the International Society of Pharmaceutical Engineers, and participates in its International Leadership Forum.
