Ready, set, Mo! - Our 5th Movember
At Janssen, our commitment to our patients is not just in the boardroom. It’s in the community where we live.
For the fifth year, Janssen was pleased to be involved with the Movember fundraising event. This year the effort expanded beyond the Australian Janssen team and involved Janssen around the world.
While raising money for research, Movember also brings awareness to four large threats to male health around the world – prostate cancer, mental health, testicular cancer, and physical inactivity.
By encouraging men to grow a moustache over the month of November, the Movember movement creates discussion and awareness in the community. The health issues facing men around the world isn’t so much in your face as on it. That’s an approach Janssen can really get behind.
In 2015 the Janssen Australia team hosted a staff event where Jim Lloyd, a former Member of Parliament, visited the office to share his experience of living with prostate cancer. Having Jim discuss how Movember has helped to raise awareness and funds toward valuable services put a face behind the fundraising.
The Janssen Australia team raised more than AUD $5,000. The sum was matched by the company, making the total contribution to Movember’s fundraising more than AUD $10,000.
Janssen is proud to be involved in both the fundraising and awareness raising aspects of Movember. In fact, the pride can be seen on the collective faces of our staff as each November draws to a close.
