‘Silver Forest: Lost & Found’ Art Exhibition (銀樹 ‧ 森林 ‧ 美術館) – An Artistic Journey to Reignite Hope Among Hong Kong’s Psoriasis Community

Organiser: Hong Kong Psoriasis Patients Association (香港銀屑病友會)

In 2019, Janssen Hong Kong partnered with the Hong Kong Psoriasis Patients Association (HKPPA) to address the stigma and hopelessness felt by many of the city’s 20,000 psoriasis patients. The misunderstanding and stigmatisation of the disease is compounded in Hong Kong, where its informal name sounds like the Chinese word for ‘contagious’.

Janssen supported HKPPA to host the first-ever patient-themed art event, ‘Silver Forest: Lost & Found’ Art Exhibition (銀樹 ‧ 森林 ‧ 美術館). The event sought to connect with stakeholders from different generations and backgrounds to support psoriasis patients in Hong Kong, echoing the theme of World Psoriasis Day, ‘Let’s Get Connected’.

The exhibition was inspired by the healing power of art. Its impactful display, extended digitally, highlighted how patients can find their way out of the ‘psoriasis forest’ with support from others. The exhibition also aimed to improve disease awareness of psoriasis by delivering – in a balanced manner – information regarding disease prevention, treatment and therapy.
