The Grameen Foundation & IIT

The Grameen Foundation and the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay

In 2008, Janssen Global Public Health partnered with the Indian Institute of Technology, the Grameen Foundation, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the Johns Hopkins Center for Global Health Education and a number of Indian HIV clinics and experts to explore whether mobile health technology in India could help improve patient outcomes for people living with HIV. The program eventually led to the development of a platform called TAMA (Treatment Advice by Mobile Alerts), that demonstrated an improvement in treatment adherence and overall health outcomes by using mobile phones as a two-way channel to connect with patients across the country. Watch the TAMA story below.
