Guidelines & Exclusions

Guidelines & Exclusions

General Guidelines

  • All contribution requests are reviewed for compliance with our policies and relevant legal and industry requirements, including guidelines set forth by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA).
  • Only nonprofit organizations classified by the IRS as 501 (c)(3) are eligible to apply for a charitable contribution.
  • We only accept online applications through our grant management system. Faxed, e-mailed and postal-mailed requests will not be considered. Within local community giving, we do not accept unsolicited requests. Applications will be on an invitation basis only.
  • For event-specific funding, applications must be submitted at least sixty (60) days prior to the event.
  • Applications are evaluated competitively with emphasis given to innovative programs with measurable outcomes that address disparities or areas of high unmet need. Please click here to read about how we define outcomes.
  • Preference for support will be given to programs and services over event-based requests.
  • Review of each request is based on merit, relevance to our guidelines and available resources.
  • Funding decisions will consider prevalence, population served, program design, organizational capacity, and anticipated outcomes.
  • Verbal commitments for charitable contributions are not provided or acknowledged by our Charitable Contributions Committee.
