Why it’s Important to Celebrate International Women’s Day

Recently, we celebrated International Women's Day (IWD), a global awareness day paying special tribute to the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. IWD is particularly important to me because it provides a chance to pause and reflect on how we are accelerating gender parity and empowering diversity.

Within Janssen R&D Global Regulatory Affairs (GRA), we are developing and building our team through a focus on gender, race, generational, cultural and experiential diversity. In addition, we promote a culture of inclusion where every voice is heard.

I whole-heartedly believe that diversity spurs better ideas, higher engagement and leads to better results. To stay ahead of the ever-changing regulatory environment driven by new science and technologies, changing healthcare systems, new competitors and more empowered patients, we pull our strength and wisdom from our diverse teams with varied backgrounds. We promote curiosity, an open mindset and agility. By constantly learning from each other and adapting, our people are at their best, driven by our mission to put patients first.

Within Janssen R&D GRA, we celebrate IWD because we are proponents of gender balance. In fact, many of GRA’s leadership team members are women. Personally, I am very proud to be part of an organization and team that embraces diversity and in an authentic and genuine way.
